SOLD Excellent example of Abney reflecting level and compass used by Royal Italian Army (Regio Esercito Italiano) in WW 1. This is a simple type of sextant for measuring vertical angles on land and air with artificial horizon is used by military for artillery, surveyors, engineers and cartographers. The Abney reflecting level is made of brass and comes with a small compass with 33 mm face, a small magnifying glass and a original wood and velvet case. Dimensions: 5 1/2 inches x 2 inches x 1 inches. Excellent condition for the age.
