SOLD-This is an excellent example of a pocket floating card compass made in Baltimore Maryland by C. H. White in the first half 19th century. It is a small version of the nautical compasses used by sailors on a small vessel. This particular piece has a brass case and wonderful paper floating card, a rare locking system, beveled glass and an ornate brass top. Dimensions: 52 mm diameter and 18 mm height. The compass comes with an original line-yard and is sold with an antique wood display.
