SOLD Rare example of early Police Oil Lantern or Dark Lantern made by Dietz New York and with the patent number 13 April 1886. The lantern is made of sheet of still and plated with tin, has a two handles, belt clip, two wicks, top conic chimney vents and a 3 inch bulls eye. The front shield can be operated single handed by a thumb shutter in the back of the lantern. Dimensions: 8 inch height and 3 1/5 inch diameter.
