Scarce example of early surveyors compendium made by Fletcher & Sinclair's Liverpool in mid 1800's. The compendium is made of a compass, a level angle dial or clinometer, a sundial and the mahogany case has a sight hole and horizontal wire at the base acting as a simple Theodolite. The device still has the original instructions manual on the case with the description of the main functions. Dimensions: (open) 10 inches x 8 inches x 1.2 inches closed the device is 8 inches x 4 inches x 1.2 inches with 60 mm diameter compass and sundial face and 85 mm level angle dial. The mahogany case has some minimal wear and tear due to the age. This compendium makes a very nice addition to your collection of early navigation , surveying or time keeping instruments.
