SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine sextant used by explorers for navigation on the sea. This is an excellent 7 inch radius sextant made by Leupold & Stevens Instruments from Portland Oregon in 1944 for US Maritime Commission. The device has most of the parts in place: a scale divided 0-140, index arm with micrometer drum scale and tangent-screw with clamp, one telescope, three sun shades, two horizon shades, one index and one horizon mirror, and a strong wooden handle and a nice mahogany case. The case has some wear and tear due to the age. Dimensions of the case 11 in x 10 in x 6 in.
