SOLD Rare example of an excellent pair of highly collectible Carl Zeiss 8 x 60 U-Boat commander Kriegsmarine binoculars (The Fat One). These binoculars were introduced in service in 1943 and used just for two years on the board of the limited number of German submarines. Not too many left and were issued mostly for the use on U-Boats just by the Commanders. On the right side of the binoculars there is marked the magnification (8 x 60), makers code (blc) and the serial number 2111478, objective lenses are 60 mm and coated. The binoculars still have the original light gray finish in very good condition with some minor wear and tear. The paint is all original and has never been cleaned. The eye cups are present with no damage, the protective cover is present too, Most important the optics are clear. The internal focusing system is adjusted by two outer screws. We want to leave the binoculars as a historical relic and did not try to change the focus. The waterproof construction is very rugged to withstand the rough conditions on the seas. Dimensions: height 220 mm and with 242 mm. I am happy to respond to questions for extra details.
