SOLD -Here is a fine example of a plane table compass most likely used by Japanese Army in WWII in the Asia Pacific Region. The device is combination of a compass and clinometer compendium attached to a wooden board. The compass is made of brass and wood has a nice 90mm diameter silvered face a with a magnetic needle resting on a red stone jewel. It also has a locking system on the side. The second hand is for the clinometer device who can be set by pushing a button hidden in the wooden board. There are several inscriptions found on the wooden board. Dimensions: 240mmL x 89mmW x 30mmH or 9 1/2" x 3" 1/2 x 1" 1/4. The condition of the compass is excellent with minimal wear and tear.
