This is a nice example of surveyors or miners compass made in France. The device is equipped with a side locking system for the compass, a silvered dial, a compass needle rested on a red stone and two sighting vanes. The compass case is made of brass with some minimal wear and tear. Dimensions of the compass 65 mm diameter and 18 mm height and the case dimensions are 95 mmm diameter and 30 mm height. The device comes in a leather, burgundy velvet and wood case. unfortunately one of the locking hooks is missing. Excellent display item.
