Sold-This is a good example of a mahogany wood compass made in Germany in the late 1700's through mid-1800's designed for travelers and settlers and introduced in US by outfitters and early explorers. This specific item has the magnetic declination arrow pointed to 18 degrees West. Each device is unique in its own way due to the attractive printed paper dial and custom hand painted compass rose. The compass has a engraving of original owner on the back and a interesting engraving of a cabin on the top of the case. Dimensions: 55 mm X 55 mm X 20 mm.
