The bullseye lenses was used to focus light on an opaque object from above, or serving a similar purpose to a mirror for transparent specimens when was used with a microscope. This example is a rare one has two separate lenses with several adjustments including the angle and height of the condenser. One of the lens swivels and the second one has interchangeable bezel. The base is made of green slate. When the bullseye was supplied on a separate stand such as this one it was also called a 'bench condenser”. Dimensions of the stand, 10 inches height, and 5 inches base. Diameter of one bullseye lens is 60 mm and the second one is 50 mm. Excellent display item or a good addition to your scientific instruments collection.
