SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine sextant used by explorers for navigation on the sea.This is an excellent brass 9 inch radius sextant made by Heath Co Ltd. New Eltham London and tested by Hezzanith Observatory in 1920. The device has almost all the parts and accessories in place: a silvered scale divided 0-155, brass index arm with vernier scale and magnifying glass, tangent-screw with clamp, some of the sighting telescopes, one with a pinhole sight and one long telescope without eye piece lens, four sun shades, three horizon shades (one with some cracks), one index and one horizon mirror, and a strong wooden handle and a nice mahogany case. The beautiful mahogany sextant box comes with a unique locking system with a button to fasten the sextant. Some extra accessories are present to : screwdriver, one of the filters, adjusting key and box key. The device will make an excellent addition to your collection of early navigational instruments.
