SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation. This piece was made in the early 1900's by the well-known scientific instrument maker Stanley from London. The sextant is made of anodized brass. The cylindrical body has several fine adjustments: small index arm, magnifying glass, two mirrors, and a silvered vernier scale with very fine markings. The sextant come with sun filter at the peep-hole. The original leather case is in excellent condition for the age. The sextant is functional the reading can be taken through the adjustable peephole.Dimensions: 70 mm diameter and 40 mm.
