SOLD Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation. This piece was made in the late 1800’s early 1900’s by the German manufacturer of scientific instruments Leppin & Masche Berlin. The sextant comes with a retractable telescopic sight that has a dark sun filter (anodized brass cylindrical body), including several fine adjustments: index arm, magnifying glass, two mirrors, adjustable green and red filters and a silvered vernier scale (0-140) with very fine markings. The original leather case and strap is in excellent condition for the age. The sextant is functional the reading can be taken through the adjustable peephole or mini telescope. The inside case still has the original Natural Tangents printed paper. Dimensions: 78 mm diameter and 40 mm height
