SOLD Featured below is a rare example of pocket sundial made of wood and paper in the late Edo or Early Meiji Period. The dial was most likely used to be attached to the sash (obi) of a Japanese man’s traditional dress. The sundial was made in last half of 1800’s. The small compass has a nice dial and face. The folding brass dial is made to show the local time and the paper dial has the signature of the maker. The dimensions of the device are: 62 mm diameter and 18 mm height.
