  Featured below is a rare example of genuine pocket sextant or "box sextant" used by explorers for navigation or in our case by British Army in WW1 (Broad arrow present on the case). This rare instrument was made in the 1916  by the well-known scientific instrument maker Francis Barker & Son London. The sextant comes with a peep whole sight with a dark sliding sun filter. The anodized brass cylindrical body has several fine adjustments: index arm, magnifying  glass, two mirrors, adjustable green and red filters and a silvered vernier scale with very fine markings (0-140).  The sextant is functional the reading can be taken through the adjustable peephole. The inside case still has the original Natural Tangents printed paper.  Dimensions: 69 mm diameter and 35 mm height.
